Creating a Smile You Want to Show Off
You may have often thought about how nice it would be to have a completely different smile.
You may not like the way your teeth fit together, or your teeth may be damaged or stained. Is there any way you can change the way your smile looks? Thanks to dental veneers, you have the opportunity to make a big change.
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or resin that measure less than 1.5mm in thickness, and are typically used to cover teeth that are discoloured, worn, chipped, or misaligned.
At Cedar Ridge Dental, we want to help create a smile that you feel confident showing to the world. If you are looking for a dentist in Wetaskiwin to find a solution for worn, stained, or misaligned teeth, contact Cedar Ridge Dental, and our dentists can help you find an affordable solution, such as veneers.
How to Care for Dental Veneers
You should care for your dental veneers just like you would for your natural teeth. You will need to practice good oral hygiene and schedule regular dental hygiene appointments. You may also want to consider switching to a soft-bristled toothbrush and avoid chewing on hard objects, such as ice, a pen, or your fingernails.
The Dental Veneer Process
You will begin with a consultation with your dentist. Once you and your dentist decide that veneers are the right option for you, another appointment will be scheduled.
At this appointment, your dentist will need to prepare your teeth and take impressions. A temporary filling may be used while the impression is being custom-created at a dental laboratory.
Once created, your permanent veneers will be sent to our office. You'll return to our office so that your permanent veneers can be cemented in place.
During this final appointment, we will check the shape, colour, and fit of the veneers and make any adjustments if needed.
What Are the Advantages of Dental Veneers?
Veneers offer the following advantages:
- They are colour-matched to your teeth to provide a natural appearance.
- Gum tissue tolerates porcelain well.
- Porcelain veneers are highly stain-resistant, so they usually stain less than your actual teeth.
- Veneers offer a conservative approach to changing a tooth's color and shape as they don't require extensive shaping prior to the procedure that crowns do.
Although veneers are more expensive and time-consuming than bonding, they are less expensive than opting for crowns (and also conserve the natural tooth, as a bonus).
